A groundbreaking was held Wednesday for a new therapeutic playground at Marvin Picollo Elementary School.
About 35 special needs pre-school students go there every year.
"This playground will help my students build functional skills: fine motor, cross motor, social communication. It will help them build their independent skills and it will help them be actively involved in playgrounds around the community," says teacher Jeannie Dwyer.
The new playground was brought to life by the Chamber's Leadership Reno-Sparks 2013 class.
The Reno Rodeo Foundation and the Junior League of Reno donated a combined $100,000 to help fund the playground.
1864 Tavern in Midtown Reno also donated after holding a fundraiser for the playground last month.
Junior League of Reno President, Kerry Brennan-Novak says, "We are excited about making a deeper impact to promote accessibility for children through this playground, and are looking forward to a partnership with an organization that also promotes the development of community leaders as we do."
