Scooter Accident in Reno Sends Woman to Hospital

Reno police are investigating an accident involving as scooter that left a Reno woman fighting for her life.

It happened Tuesday around 1 pm at the corner of Wells Avenue and Thoma Street.

Investigators say a 60-year-old woman was driving north on the scooter when a pick-up truck in front of her turned right onto Thoma and she ran into it.

Police say the woman did not have helmet on and was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Police say with the warmer weather they're seeing more people on scooters and they want riders to remember they have to obey traffic laws just like any other vehicle on the road.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this crash.The collision is currently being investigated by Detectives from Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team.
