Former Pack Players Arrested for Attempted Robbery

Two former Nevada football players have been placed under arrest and charged with attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

A lieutenant with the Reno Police Department says that Anthony Knight and Avery Poates, who had both been dismissed from the team in spring, were arrested Friday. Police say that Poates and Knight had arranged to meet with their victims to sell them sports memorabilia, but instead drew a firearm and demanded money.

The victims managed to escape, and called police. After a brief search, Officers arrested Knight and Poates at around 4 p.m. Officials say they had been driving in the area with a third man, he has not been identified and is not believed to have been involved in the robbery.

Bail is set at $40,500 for Knight, and $40,000 for Poates.
