Sparks Police Officers have arrested Luiz Acuna-Grageda, who they describe as a "well known violent gang member."

According to a report on his arrest, officers were called to the intersection of 21st street and Prater Way for a possible fight. According to a witness, several adults inside a blue Ford Explorer had been flashing gang signs at a group of minors who were on foot. The reporting party also told police that men in the car were gang members, one going by the nickname "Diablo." Police say that they recognized the nickname as belonging to Acuna-Grageda.

When officers came to investigate, both the men in the Ford Explorer and the minors had left the scene. Just before 6:30 officers found a blue Explorer parked at a nearby 7-11, and when they approached one man began to flee. Officers say they gave chase, and during the pursuit the fleeing suspect dropped both a 5-shot revolver and a bag containing what officers suspect is methamphetamine. The chase ended when the subject was caught by police dogs and tased on 7th street. He was taken into custody and identified as Luiz Acuna-Grageda.

Acuna-Grageda was briefly taken to Northern Nevada Medical for the treatment of some minor dog bites, before being transported to the Washoe County Jail. He is charged with trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
