Crews Knockdown Wildfire Near Kingsbury Grade

Posted: Updated:

Fire crews knocked down a small wildfire near Kingsbury Grade in Douglas County.

The Kings Fire started just before 3pm Wednesday about a 1/2 mile below Daggett Summit on the east side.

The fire is in the jurisdiction of the East Fork Fire District and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The fire burned about 5 acres. Approximately 200 firefighters were on hand to knock down the blaze before the wind could take charge.

No structures were threatened with this fire. One firefighter was treated on scene with heat exhaustion. No other injuries have been reported .

Due to heavy winds and strong gusts aircraft were not used to battle this fire. The terrain also made it difficult for the hand crews.

There is no information as to the cause of this fire.
