Red Flag Warning for Tahoe Basin, Eastern Sierra & Western Nevada

Greater Lake Tahoe area-Mono-Eastern Alpine Counties-Western Nevada Sierra front:

A red flag warning remains in effect until 8 pm Wednesday for gusty winds and low humidity for the Lake Tahoe basin, eastern Sierra and the Western Nevada Sierra front.

* winds: southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Gusts to 45 mph in wind prone areas along Highway 395.

* gusts to 60 mph in the upper elevations and over Sierra ridges.

* humidity: 15%-20% for the Tahoe Basin and 10%-15% elsewhere.

* impacts: the combination of gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions will occur.
