Howard Hughes' Lake Tahoe Home Up for Sale

Posted: Updated:

Howard Hughes' former Lake Tahoe home is now up for sale - valued at $19 million.

The property has 5 parcels and the main home has 5 bedrooms and a 4 car garage.

But that's nothing compared to the views - 500 feet of the property is all on the lake, which is rare in Lake Tahoe.

This home's history is also as rich as the forest it sits on.

"The Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe rumored to have a trist here. All these people would hang out here. He could just walk up there and walk back home 440 steps away from the fun of the time," says Chase Realtor Karen Bruno.

The current owners bought it from Howard Hughes company in the mid-90's as their year round residence. They kept the log cabin look from wood milled on site in 1934.

But the interior is modern and 250 people can wine and dine at the garden on the grounds.

The orginal owner, Tasker Oddie, owned a silver mine then became governor and senator in the early 1900's.
