Officer-Involved Shooting in Reno Leaves One Person Dead

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say they are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one person dead on Scorpio Circle, just off Geiger Grade.

Reno police say around 4:30am Friday, Washoe County deputies responded to a call of reports of a suspicious man trying to break into someone's house.

When they arrived, police say they found a man matching the suspect's description, but that somehow two deputies became involved in a shooting that left the unidentified suspect dead.

No law enforcement officers were hurt.

The deputies have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Police do not believe there is any danger to anyone in the neighborhood.

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that several of their patrol cars are getting a new look to crack down on reckless driving in the future. They are in the process of outfitting a few of their vehicles with "Ghost Markings," or subdued graphics that are seen more clearly only in bright lighting.
