Motorcycle Accident Sends Man to Hospital

Posted: Updated:

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that left a Reno man with multiple injuries on Sunday night.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says minutes before the crash -- a Washoe County Sheriff's deputy tried to pull the motorcyclist over for speeding, but the rider continued to speed up to more than 100 miles per hour.

Worried about the safety of others, the deputy then decided not to pull the bike over. Then a few minutes later -- the motorcycle was found crashed.

Troopers say it appears the rider, 24-year-old Loren Harper of Reno went off the roadway when he couldn't handle a right-hand curve, then crashed into a guardrail and was ejected from the bike.

Harper was taken to Renown with multiple injuries - and this morning was said to be in stable condition.

Troopers are still investigating the crash - and asking anyone with information to call the Department of Public Safety at 687-0400.
