Things 2 Do This Holiday Weekend

It's a long weekend. And the real focus this weekend will be on Monday. Memorial Day has everyone celebrating. From Fernley to Virginia City there will be military remembrances. And from John Ascuaga's Nugget to Wingfield Park there will be bands on stage.

Lots of ways to benefit veterans, from a classic car show in Rancho San Rafael Park Saturday to benefit the Veteran's Guest House…to a Pancake Breakfast Monday morning at the Garden Shop Nursery to fund Honor Flight Nevada. Enjoy! 


Friday 5/24:  

Redneck Rodeo at the Nugget 4-9 pm John Ascuaga's Nugget:

Yee-haw! The Redneck Rodeo is in town. It's all happening at John Ascuaga's Nugget this year. All kinds of prizes for everything from the Tallest Truck to the Biggest Truck Tires. And all of the proceeds go to the Reno Rodeo.


Dementia: A Musical 8 pm Circle of Life Hospice Thrift Shop:

It's a musical and it's a comedy and yes, it's about dementia. And you are all invited.

It plays at Ali's Alley Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm


Saturday 5/25

Summer Salute classic Chevys at Rancho San Rafael 9-3 to benefit Veterans Guest House:

It's a great event to help a good cause and see some mighty fine cars. The Classic Chevy Club of Reno will amass cars at Rancho San Rafael. Proceeds benefit the Veteran's Guest House in Reno. It's a place for veterans to stay while receiving treatment at the V.A. Hospital.


Crossroads at the Nugget Country Music Festival:

It's a country music festival at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks. For concert times and artists…check out their website.


Memorial Day Parade and Made in Nevada Crafts Fair parade at noon

There is nothing like a small town old-fashioned parade for Memorial Day. And Virginia City knows how to do that. The patriotic parade will wind through town starting at noon Saturday and will be centerpiece for the town's Made in Nevada Crafts Fair.


Music Festival Wingfield Park noon-10 pm

Dragonstar Entertainment is putting this one. A collection of local artists rotating onstage at Wingfield Park starting at noon on Saturday and running until 10 p.m.


Sunday 5/26

Annual Memorial Day Wreath Laying for the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 274

Rock Park Noon Sunday:

Every Memorial Day the Fleet Reserve Association remembers those lost. And they will lay a wreath at Rock Park and hold a commemorative service starting at noon.


Monday 5/27

Pancake Breakfast to benefit Honor Flight Nevada Garden Shop Nursery  7-noon

The Garden Shop Nursery is pulling it all together to help benefit Honor Flight Nevada. They have celebrities on board, and the griddles are warmed up to cook up a great Pancake Breakfast. Just $5 for a filling breakfast and a great way to help fund the mission of taking World War II Veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor.


Nevada State Railroad will be open 10am-4pm

They will be celebrating the start of another season….with a season opener on Memorial Day


Memorial Day Ceremony in Fernley 11 am

It's Nevada's closest national cemetery and Memorial Day it will be packed with military members, retirees and family remembering those who have served to ensure freedom. It's always packed so get there early!


The American Legion Memorial Day Ceremony at GAR cemetery 9 am


Memorial Day services at Our Mother of Sorrows 10:30 am Diocese of Reno:

There will be a Catholic Service held in honor of Memorial Day at Our Mother of Sorrows. Starts at 10:30.


Memorial Day Service by Salvation Army 1931 Sutro Street noon:

Their Remembrance Ceremony is set for noon at the flagpole at the Salvation Army at 1931 Sutro Street


Discovery Museum up 10-5:
