Deputies Identify Driver Who Hit Boulder in South Reno

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident that killed a Reno man on Wednesday near Welcome Way in south Reno.

The accident happened around 4pm.

Deputies say 20-year-old Randall Mercado was speeding north on Welcome Way when hit a large boulder. Due to the velocity, the Isuzu Rodeo went into the backyard of a home located on Tucumcari Circle. No was home when the accident happened.

Mercado died at the scene.

The cause of death has not been determined pending toxicology.
