We're used to turkey dinners in November, but Wednesday it was "Thanksgiving in May" at St. Vincent's Food Pantry in Reno.
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada distributed frozen turkeys and the fixings to 1,600 local families in need.
Organizers say the event is designed to reach out to more families in the community.
"We actually got a nice donation through the USDA with the turkeys and we thought, I thought it'd be better for us to do an event to get out to more families," says food pantry manager Scott Cooksley.
They say it's important to remember those in need are hungry all year long - not just during the holidays.
