Washoe County Deputies Investigate In-Custody Death

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an inmate who passed away while in custody.

Deputies say 24-year-old Carlos Salgado of Sparks had been booked into the county jail on Sunday. He was found unresponsive in his cell around 4 am Monday.

REMSA and fire personnel tried to save him, but he passed away about an hour later.

The medical examiner is awaiting the results of toxicology tests to find out how Salgado died.
