Sparks Fire Chief to Retire This September

Sparks Fire Department Chief Andreas Flock has announced he's retiring this September after 6 1/2 years of service.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Mayor Geno Martini and the city council, Flock said, "I could not have asked for a more fulfilling career. I will have had the pleasure of working for the Sparks Fire Department as both a volunteer and full-time firefighter for 30 1/2 years. I leave behind a qualified, inspired and ingenious men and women that will continue to meet the ever-changing service needs of this community."

He says his last working day will be Friday, September 13, 2013.
