We're headed into a wild weekend in Northern Nevada. This weekend the Fallon area will turn its eyes to the skies and to the marshlands…with the annual Spring Wings Bird Festival. They have a host of tours and bird watching events set up through the weekend. You can also help fund the effort to save wild cats rescued from bad situations. The Safe Haven Rescue is holding a dinner and fundraiser at the Winnemucca Convention Center on Saturday night. And speaking of animals, the Nevada Humane Society's Annual Walk for Animas is at the Sparks Marina. Enjoy!

El Rancho goes Digital

Some said the old drive-in would never keep up but the El Rancho Drive In is going digital and keep up with the technology of the times. To stay competitive and in business the El Rancho is offering four screens of new releases staring this weekend with Iron Man 3. Check the website for show times.

The Hills of Home ….Downtown Reno Ballroom

The Reno Phil and the Reno Youth Orchestra will honor Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and his wife Nancy, with a special concert of the music written by Mayor Cashell's grandfather Oscar Fox.


Reno Pops, The Storyteller 7 p.m. Nightingale Hall:

It's a concert for kids. And it's free family fun. The concert will include the music inspired by great stories from Winnie the Pooh to The Hobbit.


Safe Haven Rescue in Winnemucca

The Safe Haven Rescue in Imlay, Nevada is home to large cats including tigers and lions that have been rescued from deplorable living conditions either in roadside zoos or from collectors. The animals are cut but they grow too big for domestication.  And to keep the facility growing they need funding. Which is why they are holding a fundraiser in Winnemucca with a dinner, a raffle and a chance to help out.


Spring Wings Bird Festival in Fallon:

It's a chance to see birds in the wild and in the marsh and at the Stillwater Wildlife Refuge. Tours, educational lectures and bird identification seminars are all a part of the celebration of the birds of the Fallon area. And you're invited to take part. Check the website for the times, the locations and the prices.


Downtown Coin Club Carson City Sat 10-5 & Sun 10-4

It all happens at the Nugget in Carson City. It's a chance to show your coins and to see what others have to swap and share.


Walk for Animals Sparks Marina 1 pm

It's a chance to get out in the sunshine at the Sparks Marina with your pet and meet others doing the same. And you can help raise money for the Nevada Humane Society while you do it. The walk starts at 1 p.m.


National Kids to Parks Day

It's National Kids to Park Day. All across the country parents are urged to find a local neighborhood park and celebrate it with your kids.


Bower's Mansion opening for programs and tours…..pool opens June 8th

The Historic Bower's Mansion in Washoe Valley is opening for the season. There will be tours of the mansion starting at 10 a.m. and there will be Friday evening ranger programs throughout the summer. The mansion hasn't been open to the public since 2009. The pool opens June 8th.

Taste of Reno at the Atlantis   Rotary Fundraiser 5-9 p.m.

The annual Taste of Reno Fundraiser for the Reno Rotary is this weekend. Parings of wines and special creations by a host of local chefs will delight even the most discerning of diners. Plus it's a great way to help a great cause. It's at the Atlantis Sunday starting at 5.


Hometown Heroes Car Show at Michael Hohl Motors Carson City  9am – 2pm

A portion of the proceeds will go to Honor Flight Nevada to help get World War II vets to Washington D.C.
