E&E Foods to Hold Job Fair, 20 Positions Available

E&E Foods is looking for seasonal employees to work up in Alaska as seafood processors.

They'll be hosting a job fair in Fernley Friday at 10am at Fernley City Hall at 595 Silver Lace Boulevard.

They're looking to fill 20 seasonal positions.

Arrive early to check in. Once the orientation begins the doors close.

Be sure to have the full late morning and early afternoon open so you're certain for an in-person interview.

Nature of Work:
Seafood processors perform a variety of tasks that can include anything from sorting, cutting and cleaning, grading, packing salmon roe to cleanup. Most of the work is repetitive and tedious. Some work can be very strenuous such as stacking 50 lb cases of frozen product, pushing freezer racks or carts of canned salmon or handling Halibut in excess of 100 lbs! Working conditions vary with the assignment, but are generally wet, cold and noisy. Working in a processing plant is not an experience for everyone, and everyone should understand their limitations. If you have any doubts at all, it is in your best interest not to apply for this type of work. People with back or wrist problems should consider employment in another industry.

Hours of Work:
Hours and days of work are entirely dependent upon the size of the fish run, which is nearly impossible to predict. While we can't guarantee any definite number of hours, a typical work week is seven days per week. A workday can run anywhere from nothing to more than sixteen hours per day. You must be ready and able to work all hours assigned. Meal periods and breaks must be taken as scheduled. Payroll schedules will vary by plant/location. Please check with your supervisor with questions regarding the pay schedule.

Wages:
Wages are based on Alaska state wage rate or higher. All hours worked in excess of eight per day or forty straight time hours in a week are paid overtime which is one and one half the contract wage rate. Paydays are bi-weekly or monthly depending on the plant. One advantage to seasonal work in seafood processing plants is there is nowhere to spend your money in these remote areas of Alaska; you will be able to bring home virtually all of the money that you earned.

Gear:
If required raingear and boots are provided at no charge, but must be returned at the end of the season. Any required safety equipment including gloves, hair nets and ear protection will be provided.

Room and Board:
Room and board is provided for free or for a nominal charge depending on location. At all locations, rooms are multi-occupancy and accommodations for married couples or co-ed housing are limited or not available. Meals are provided in a company Mess all. Laundry facilities are available at each location. Bedding and towels are provided.

Transportation:
For employees from the lower 48 states we provide transportation from Seattle. For Alaskan employees transportation is provided from their hometown in most cases. Commercial airlines are used. Airfare is paid to the respective plant, and after completing a season in good standing, return airfare is also paid.
