On Saturday, April 27, JDRF Northern Nevada held their annual Vision Gala raising more than $725,000 for diabetes research.
The "James Bond"-themed event, which honored the Carano Family, raised funds through table sales, auction bids and donations. Nationally, JDRF has led the search for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes for more than four decades and remains the largest funder of diabetes research in the world outside of the United States government. In fact, 82.5 cents of each dollar raised is committed to research.
"Each year our JDRF team made up of a small, hard-working staff and a large group of volunteer board of directors work together to put on an incredible event," said Maryann Zucker, president of JDRF Northern Nevada. "We are absolutely committed to raising awareness of Type 1 Diabetes and the astounding number of people affected by this terrible disease. Our mission is to find a cure and we are so grateful for the tremendous support received by our community this past weekend. "
JDRF Northern Nevada's efforts continue year-round to support their mission. Additional opportunities to support this cause include golf tournaments, the annual S'poker ride and the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes which takes place on Sunday, Oct. 6 on the University of Nevada campus. JDRF Northern Nevada remains committed to its goal to find a cure for diabetes and, since its inception, has raised more than $12 million for diabetes research.
