Fearless Radio Show Helps Combat Addiction

Posted: Updated:

Thursday was a very important step in the battle against drug and alcohol addiction in our community.

A new radio show debuted this morning called Fearless. It's hosted by Debbie McCarthy and Pat Cashell.

Pat is a recovering drug addict, particularly meth. This show is all about drug addiction and recovery.

Today, Pat's dad, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, was a special guest. He talked about how drugs tore his family apart.

And Tom Dolan, from the Dolan Automotive Group, annouced publicly, for the first time he's a recovering alcoholic.

Both Pat and Tom are now clean and sober - and hoping this program will help combat the drug and alcohol problem they say is rampant in Northern Nevada.

"I got my own radio show, show on addiction and recovery. Do I feel comfortable doing it? Absolutely not. But I have to. It wasn't even a second thought. I have to I don't want anyone to go through what I went through," says Pat Cashell.

I was honored to be a part of the program today, which you can hear every Thursday morning from 8am-9am on 101.3 FM Renegade Radio.

And coming up later in May, I'll have more on the drug problem facing kids in this community and what parents can do to help their children.
