Posted: Updated:

Nevada law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty were honored in Reno Friday morning.

Channel 2's Mike Alger sang ‘Beneath the Badge' at the 26th annual James D. Hoff Annual Peace Officers Memorial in Idlewild Park.

At the ceremony, plaques were added to the memorial to honor Washoe County Lieutenant Glenn Barnes and Elko County Deputy Denny van Lawrence.

Several law enforcement from different agencies in Nevada also received survivors' plaques.

Governor Brian Sandoval and Senator Dean Heller were in attendance – along with a representative from Senator Harry Reid's office.

This memorial was dedicated in 1988, after James D. Hoff -- a Reno police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1979.

Then on Saturday - the fourth annual Police Memorial Week parade will be held in Virginia City at noon on C Street on the Comstock.

The parade will include bagpipes, color guards and officers on horseback, motorcycle and other law enforcement vehicles.
