Governor Sandoval Responds To Patient Dumping Accusation

Posted: Updated:

A hospital in Las Vegas has been accused by San Francisco's city attorney of dumping thousands of mentally ill patients in California.

A Sacramento Bee report found that nearly 2 thousand mentally-ill patients were discharged from two Southern-Nevada hospitals then put on a bus and sent west.

In a statement release by Governor Brian Sandoval says quote, "Disciplinary actions have been taken and a corrective plan of action was put into place at [the hospital]. The new policy provides additional oversight to ensure that discharge and transportation policies are followed correctly." He went on to add, "improperly discharging on patient, is one too many."

Still, San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera plans to seek compensation from Nevada.
