Artists Share Ideas in the 'Big Little'

Posted: Updated:

He has traveled the world painting wherever he can find the space.

"Miami, Brooklyn, India, Lisbon, Paris, Copenhagen. What's your favorite city, I've probably painted there," says Erik T. Burke.

And he's met a lot of other talented artists along the way. Now he's inviting them to Reno to help fill space here.

He calls it the Big LIttle.

"I actually built a small house on my property and invite other artists to come and live here ..temporarily. And while they are here they pursue their art and give back by helping with public murals."

The latest project involves Burke, artists from the area and from Baltimore, Maryland. It's on Tonopah Street just off of Virginia Street on the backside of the Nevada Fine Arts Building.

"I love it!" says owner Debbie Wolff. "I think they are so talented and I hope they find a lot more work. I wanted this to beautify the area but also to protect the walls from being tagged. Other respect fine art and won't tag this," she says.

"The Midtown area of Reno is becoming known for its murals. We split it up so everyone got a section of the wall to use for their own idea," he says. "And people can hire any of us or all of us to beautify their walls. We'll take donated space or supplies...or both. We want to help the community with our artwork."
