'Just Between Friends' Weekend Sale to Benefit Step2

Posted: Updated:

Straight from Caroline Hatcher's SUV, a roomful of what used to belong to her two children, who have outgrown a size 3T and 4T - and a bag full of toys.

Behind the counter, 'Just Between Friends' franchise owner Sarah Fierro says "perfect, thank you."

Fierro can't wait to see what else comes through the door. "It's so much fun to see all the treasures and goodies that families are bringing in."

From beds, to backpacks. Books to board games and bikes, cribs and strollers and shoes and just – stuff.

And baby toys. And clothes – lots of baby clothes being dropped off to turn into cash, for Reno mother Jody Tucker. "I kept the stuff that had good memories. The stuff I could part with is here."

These twice-yearly consignment sales are musts for Reno's bargain-hunting pros. Volunteer Sara Howard says, "we get over 3,000 people through the here."

"We have a train set here. Retail, this would probably be close to $75 to $100. They have taken nice pictures to show what's inside the bag, what's included, and right now it's going for $40," says Fierro.

For the things that still go unsold despite the price breaks, they won't go unloved. "They can donate them to our charity Casa se Vida, of they have the option to pick up those unsold items."

Tucker thinks her items will sell – all 200 of them. She really could use the cash, and her husband really wants his garbage back. "Yeah, well, he's here helping me, so you know he was ready to get it out."

The sale begins Friday inside the Reno Livestock Events Center located at 1350 North Wells Avenue. Doors open at 9am and the sale ends Sunday at 2 pm. Admission is $3 on Friday and Saturday and 100% of that money will be donated to Step2. Sunday is free admission, with half-off prices.

If you miss this weekend's sale, their next one will be in the first week of October.
