Reno runner Dave Zaski was just leaving the area near the finish line when the first explosion went off Monday.

"I spent a little bit of time in the medical tent recovering and we had just left that area and we were a block or so away and we heard the two really loud booms and being new here I wasn't sure if it was a cannon thing they do here for the race or I didn't know what it was. But pretty quickly we realized something was wrong and we saw all the panic and emergency personnel. We were pretty close by and pretty scary to see.

Charlie Johnston, who is a marathon ambassador and ring leader of many of the Reno runners in Boston, actually heard the news on Facebook because he had already finished and left the area. He quickly started making calls to local runners.

"I've actually made a point to get to everyone from Reno is OK. I've heard back from literally everyone that I knew who was going to be out here from Reno. So one of my friends was close enough to hear it but that was the closest anyone from Reno was, thank God."

A recent University of Nevada graduate, who is now going to school in Boston, says he was preparing for a fun day off enjoying Patriots Day. Charlie Jose lives just down the street from the finish line.

"'Cause I live near the area. 'Cause it happened at Copley and I live a few blocks down and we were on Boyleston. There was the explosion and everyone started flocking the area. Throughout the entire Boston area you hear sirens wherever you go, you can hear it right now."
