Carson Undersheriff: McCune's Truck Found in Douglas County

Posted: Updated:

Carson City Undersheriff Steve Albertsen says they've found William McCune's missing truck in the Douglas County area.

Authorities had been searching for McCune's 2000 maroon Dodge pickup truck since he went missing late last week. They say they found the truck's license plates inside 23-year-old Michael Evans' apartment.

Evans, along with 20-year old Makyla Blackmore, 22-year old Raul Garcia and 20-year old Anthony Elliott were arrested in connection with McCune's death.

McCune's duct-taped blanket-wrapped body was found Saturday in the Carson River.

Carson City Coroner Ruth Rhines says it could take several weeks for tests to show how McCune died. He was positively identified by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office through dental and medical x-rays.

The truck has been taken to the Carson City Sheriff's Office to process any further evidence.

McCune was the chief insurance examiner for the state of Nevada. He was reported missing on Thursday after he did not show up for work and missed a work-related flight. Deputies responded to an apartment in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and discovered signs of an obvious struggle.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says at least one of the suspects has had direct contact with McCune in the past. Detectives believe illegal drugs could be involved, and a possible motive behind the incident.

Evans is being held in Carson City. He is charged with murder, murder of an older person, battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm and burglary.

It's unknown when the three other suspects that were arrested in Las Vegas will be returned to Carson City.

Blackmore is charged with murder and burglary, Garcia is also charged with murder and burglary, and Elliott is charged with murder. Sheriff Furlong says all three were arrested on warrants issued out of Carson City courts.

Although four suspects have been arrested, Sheriff Furlong says the investigation remains open as detectives continue to work with the Carson City District Attorney's Office.

If you have any information about the investigation, you're urged to contact the Carson City Sheriff's Office at (775) 887-2500.
