Law Enforcement Agencies to Help Reduce Distracted Driving

Posted: Updated:

Four law enforcement agencies are teaming up this month to hit the roads full force to try and prevent accidents.

"We're looking for anything from running red lights to distracted driving, lane violations and turning violations and so forth so if anything we're out here just to get the message across to drive safe," says Reno Sgt. Brian Adamson.

This joint operation was funded by a joining forces grant which pays for more officers on the road to look for drivers who are not obeying the rules of the road.

Police say it's important for drivers to be careful especially with the summer months coming up -- when there is more traffic on the roads.

218 traffic tickets were issued:

-124 of those were cell phone-related

-43 were for other violations like not having license and/or registration

-42 were for drivers running red lights

-4 for not wearing seat belts

-5 pedestrians were cited for violations like jaywalking
