Senate Approves Quarterly Reports for Lobbyists

Posted: Updated:

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- The Nevada Senate has unanimously approved a bill requiring paid lobbyists to file quarterly reports between legislative sessions.

SB203 was approved 21-0 on Tuesday. It now goes to the Assembly.

Under existing law, lobbyists are only required to file monthly reports on wining and dining lawmakers during the four-month legislative sessions. A final report is due 30 days after the session ends.

Democratic Sen. Justin Jones of Las Vegas says while legislative sessions are held every two years, lobbying of lawmakers goes on year-round. He says SB203 provides a tool to foster good government.

Reports would not be required from unpaid lobbyists.
