Monday morning two people were arrested on drugs and weapons charges in South Lake Tahoe.

According to South Lake Tahoe police, an officer who was investigating 29-year-old Ryan Marino's possible involvement in methamphetamine trafficking spotted Marino buying the drug in the parking lot of a business at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 89.

Police say Marino, who is an ex-felon and member of the Brotherhood Motorcycle Club, was riding an unregistered motorcycle. The officer stopped Marino in front of his residence on 10th street.

Police say Marino is known to carry concealed weapons and upon stopping him, the officer noticed a hunting knife under Marino's arm. The officer took that weapon and searched Marino for other weapons, finding hypodermic syringes and bags of methamphetamine in his vest.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Marino's home and inside the room he shared with his girlfriend, they say they found a sawed-off shotgun, shotgun ammunition, a flare pistol and paraphernalia to package drugs for sale.

Both Marino and his girlfriend, 37-year-old Shaleen Pierson were arrested on a number of weapons and drugs charges, as well as maintaining a residence to sell controlled substances.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
