USFS Prescribed Burn in South Lake Tahoe Area Monday

You may see smoke in the South Lake Tahoe area beginning on Monday.

The U.S. Forest Service says its fuels management crews will conduct prescribed fire operations on about 10 acres of land.

Officials say crews will work on the Cold Creek area on Lake Tahoe's South Shore on Monday. They say crews may also begins operations in North Upper Truckee area on the South Shore, Slaughterhouse Canyon or the Meeks Bay area. They say it depends on the weather and fuel conditions.

They say smoke will be visible in the area. The Forest Service urges smoke-sensitive residents to consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed.
