Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say a semi-truck driver was injured early Tuesday morning after his truck rolled over onto Interstate 80 near Fernley.
The accident happened just before 4:30am on the rural stretch of the westbound freeway approximately 20 miles east of Fernley near mile marker 68 in Churchill County.
Troopers say the driver, 56-year-old Alexander Gugel of Henderson, drifted off the roadway into the center dirt median, but when he tried to steer back on the road, the truck and trailer overturned onto its left side.
Fire crews were called in to remove Grugel from underneath a portion of the truck's cab. He was flown by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno with what appeared to be not life-threatening injuries.
Troopers say the accident shut down a lane in each direction as emergency crews helped Grugel.
They say the trailer was carrying pints and quarts of automotive power steering fluid packaged in palletized cardboard boxes.
