Sparks police have arrested a 26-year-old man they say stole Assemblyman Steven Brooks' rental car.

Police say Brooks reported his car stolen to the Sparks Police Department around 7pm Monday. The report indicated the car was taken by an acquaintance named Adriane McFadden.

Around 8:45am Tuesday, police say they found McFadden and the car at 1055 South Rock Blvd. in Sparks.

Officers interviewed McFadden and then took him into custody for vehicle theft.

His bail is set at $20,000.

The North Vegas Democrat was involuntarily hospitalized in January for a psychiatric evaluation.

He was arrested in January and February, and faces charges of resisting an officer and misdemeanor assault on an officer, battery-domestic violence and obstruction.

Brooks is banned from the Legislature building and is on leave from his elected position. Two legislators have obtained restraining orders against him.
