The City of Reno has given the company in charge of its parking kiosks downtown three months to fix a number of ongoing problems with the system- or risk terminating their contact.
"We are the first to try this new system from Curb Systems, and there's been a lot of bugs. I think as people are aware along the way, so really I think it's just the newness of the technology," says Reno City Manager Andrew Clinger.
Those bugs range from kiosks running slowly to not working at all.
The 120-day termination notice voted on the council Wednesday also demands payment of a more than $600,000 in revenue which was guaranteed by the contract. The city said a new report to decide if the problems have been fixed will be submitted after that 120-day deadline.
Despite the glitches - the city says the system is operational.
Anyone who experiences bugs should let the city know by calling the city's call center, Reno Direct at 334-4636.
Last year, the city insisted improvements be made and in September -- the company said the problems had been fixed.
