Nevada Secretary of State Miller Presents Voter Photo

Posted: Updated:

Secretary of State Ross Miller's plan to digitize Nevada's polling records and add voter photos to the database was met with mixed reaction Thursday.

County election officials, while applauding the modernization effort, expressed concern Miller's proposal would still allow people to cast a ballot if photos and signatures didn't match the person attempting to vote.

Miller presented his bill, SB63, Thursday to the Senate Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections.

He says it would update the state's antiquated election system by bringing it into the digital age and allow election workers to match photos.

But Miller stressed the bill would not prevent someone from voting if their photos or signatures didn't match. In such instances, people would sign an affidavit attesting to their identity before being allowed to vote. (AP)
