Death Investigation in Spanish Springs

Deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office are investigating a death in Spanish Springs.

Deputies say they received a third party call just after 6 p.m. Tuesday from the Fallon Police Department.

Deputies were told there was a body at a home on Mia Drive in Spanish Springs. The caller indicated there might be weapons at the home as well, so deputies made sure to be well-prepared.

"We erred on the side of caution, formed a team and we began to search the residence," says Deputy Armando Avina with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

Within minutes, deputies did find the body of a man in the backyard of the home. Deputies do not know yet how the man died. They did not find any weapons.

Deputies are in contact with the Fallon Police Department to learn more about the third party call. They are also talking to neighbors to gather more information.

They say they are not searching for a suspect at this time, and they believe this is an isolated incident.

"This is pretty much a quiet, peaceful neighborhood and at this time, preliminary, we can say that we believe that there is no additional threat to the public," Avina says.

Deputies have not released any information about the man's name or age.
