Reno Police Patrol Vehicle Involved in Accident

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are investigating a rollover accident involving a Reno Police patrol car Saturday night.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation. Troopers tell us that it happened around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Ryland and Locust streets near Renown Regional Medical Center.

Troopers say the Reno Police officer was going north on Locust Street responding to a call around 8:15 p.m. He had his lights and sirens on, driving through the intersection.

A blue pickup truck was driving west on a green light on Ryland Street when it was struck on the side by the officer, causing it to roll over.

Troopers say two people inside the truck were transported, along with the officer, to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say the investigation is on-going.

The officer is a 10-year veteran with the department.
