Portion of Mt. Rose Highway Now Back Open After Avalanche
The Nevada Highway Patrol says a portion of Mt. Rose Highway was closed for a few hours as they removed an avalanche from the westbound travel lanes just above the Mt. Rose Ski Resort.
Officials got the call around 12:30 Saturday afternoon. Initial reports from REMSA indicated that someone may have been trapped in the avalanche. They sent an ambulance as well as Care Flight to the scene but were unable to locate a victim.
Troopers tell Channel 2 News later that no one was injured, and the cause of the avalanche is unknown at this time.
