Places 2 Check Out: Grand China Gourmet

Posted: Updated:

Over the years, this location in the Scolari's shopping center at the top of Caughlin Ranch has been home to several restaurants. And now, it's Grand China Gourmet. They say they have a unique recipe for success. Chinese food on one side, sushi on the other. But one thing they both have in common? It's all made fresh right here. Ceasar Rodriquez is the sushi chef. "Everything all the sauces are coming from the back. We make it from scratch. And everything is absolutely awesome."

Rodriguez's background encompasses cuisine from all over the world. And he incorporates that worldliness into his creations here. "I'm international chef. Korean, Japanese, sushi, Italian, Mexican and American and that's why I'm here showing you guys what we have in my style about sushi."

Mr. Chang is on the Chinese side. He's more bashful than Ceasar and declined my offer to be interviewed. Instead allowing his food to talk for itself, like the sesame chicken. And his menu of Chinese delights is long.

The open dining room has great views of the city. It's comfortable and easy for families. And Ceasar is serving up all you can eat sushi.

For more information, call Grand China Gourmet at 775-284-5081. It's located at 4796 Caughlin Parkway suite 101, across the parking lot from Scolari's.
