Diana Jones married young and started a family at the age of 19. "And they had mentioned I could eat for two. So I thought why not, let's have fun with the pregnancy."

Baby number two meant even more weight gain. And 20 years later, Diana was morbidly obese and sick. "I probably topped 250 over 250, maybe 260. I was in a size 22-24."

And with that came a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. And after being on medications for several years, her blood sugars kept getting worse. One day she had had enough. "I got really mad at myself. I was just really mad at the whole world and just decided to change at that point and get some options."

Her first option was gastric bypass surgery. She says that did away with her diabetes. Next, was her new passion to be physically active and increase her fitness level. "Started working on the treadmill. Did the couch to 5k program. Really started exploring all fitness options."

And that included joining the Reno 5000 enDUrance team. Diana is now working toward not just her first half marathon, but a series of them! Three in total. And next year it's a full marathon. And then triathlons. But her message, to so many others in her shoes, is to begin with just one step. "If my fitness level as walking two minutes running for 30 seconds, then that's what I did. And then they next time it was I bet I can run a minute and challenge myself every step of the way and I hope somebody sees this and say it doesn't matter what I need to do to get there but there are no boundaries."
