Local philanthropist Evelyn Mount needs your help making this Easter holiday special for kids in need.
She's asking for donations to put together Easter baskets. She needs baskets, food, candy, toys and clothing -- anything for kids age one to 12.
"We need plenty of jelly beans, basket fillers, wrappers. We need plenty more of everything, including stuffed animals. We need all sorts of things to make the children's Easter baskets look beautiful."
Monday, a representative who helps with Mount's philanthropy work told us they have only received about a quarter of the baskets they would normally have this time of year.
Mount said they have 900 people counting on her this year. She said by the time a donation comes to her home, she can get a basket made within an hour.
She said the children always appreciate it.
"I've had about 15 kids call and ask me Miss Mama, you going to do Easter baskets this year. I told them ye ad. We are helping the kids between one and twelve."
If you'd like to help, drop donations off at her home at 2530 Cannan Street in Reno. The baskets will be given out to children from low-income families on Saturday, March 30 at Dick Taylor Park at 1140 Beech Street.

Meanwhile, she says she's turned down an offer to work in Mississippi. She says "God sent me here for a reason" and doesn't want to let Him or other people down. Also, she says she will stay in the Reno area until she goes to her grave.
However, she still is looking for a place to store donations. If you can help her, you can reach her at (775) 657-9462.
