The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle accident in South Reno Saturday afternoon.

Troopers say 24-year-old Kyle Banko of Carson City was riding his sport bike on Geiger Grade toward Reno from Virginia City.

Troopers say Banko was traveling at a high-rate of speed when he passed a car on a curve, a no-passing area according to troopers. He sideswiped the car and lost control of his bike.

Banko was taken by a Careflight helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center where he later died.

The driver and passenger inside the car were not injured.

Troopers closed the northbound lane of Geiger Grade for about an hour during their investigation.
