Sparks Police Look For Suspects After Shots Fired From Vehicle
Sparks Police has one suspect behind bars and they continue to look for two others for allegedly discharging a firearm and eluding officers late Friday night.
Police say an officer was patrolling in the area of Rail City around 11:50 p.m. when he saw someone fire gunshots from a moving vehicle. The officer then tried to stop the vehicle by activating his lights and sirens. The driver of the suspected vehicle then sped away and led police on a chase through a neighborhood east of Sullivan Lane.
Then, police say on the 1100 block of 20th Street, the three suspect got out of the vehicle and ran. A Sparks Police K-9 assisting the officer was released and helped arrest one of the suspects, an unidentified 17-year old from Reno.
Police say a yard-to-yard search was conducted for the other two suspects. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office helped in the search, but they are unable to find the suspects at this time.
The remaining suspects are described as Hispanic males in their late teens to early 20s.
During the initial chase, the firearm was thrown from the vehicle by one of the occupants. It was later recovered.
