Lyon Deputies Identify 2 People in Officer-Involved Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Lyon County deputies have identified two people in an officer-involved shooting outside a home in Stagecoach last week.

Deputies say they were near a home in the 5000 block of Desert Lane around 10pm Thursday when they heard a gunshot.

Outside they found 66-year-old Sherry Robustelli with a gunshot wound to chest.

Investigators say the woman's husband, 70-year-old Joseph Robustelli, had shot her with a pistol, but when his daughter wrestled that gun away, he grabbed a rifle.

Deputies confronted the man, but investigators say he refused to drop the rifle - and when he pointed it at a deputy - the deputy fired back.

Sherry remains in stable condition at Renown Medical Center in Reno while Jospeh remains in ICU at the same hospital.

The still unidentified deputy was not hurt in the shooting, and he was placed on routine paid administrative leave while an investigation continues.
