Reno Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Reno police are investigating who fired shots at several homes early Monday morning.

Police say the shots rang out in the 300 block of Broadway Boulevard just east of Virginia Street.

The first shots were fired just after 1am, then about two hours later 15 to 20 shots were heard.

Fortunately no one was hurt. However, police found bullet holes in two homes.

If you know anything that can help investigators, call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411. Your call will remain anonymous.

Police say the shots were fired near the same area where a shooting left a 16-year-old boy dead about two weeks ago. A 18-year-old man was also injured in the shooting that happened near Locust Street and Capitol Hill Avenue.

Police have arrested 18-year old Miguel Angel Gonzalez and 26-year-old Gustavo Alvizar.

Investigators are still looking into how many people were involved in the shooting.

Alvizar is charged with one count of open murder and one count of attempted murder while Gonzalez was found already booked at the Lyon County Jail for unrelated charges. The jail will hold him on the warrant.
