Firefighters worked on a house fire Friday evening.
Battalion Chief Bob Knoll with the Reno Fire Department tells Channel 2 News that it happened around 7 p.m. on the 900 block of Cambridge Way, near Huffaker Lane.
He says when crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke coming out of the home.
"The smoke was so heavy and thick inside that they had to do quite a bit of searching to actually find the fire," Battalion Chief Knoll said. "They finally found the fire. It was toward the back of the house."
Battalion Chief Knoll said crews aggressively attacked the fire and put it out. He says the home received extensive smoke and water damage.
Investigators on scene tell us no one was home during the fire. Officials have contacted the Red Cross to help the occupants of the home arrange for a place to stay along with clothing.
No one was injured.
Battalion Chief Knoll said based on the amount of heavy smoke, the fire may have been burning for awhile before crews got on scene. He says the cause is under investigation.
