Nevada Senator Proposes Tax Incentives for Film Industry

Posted: Updated:

A state senator is proposing a tax break for the film industry in Nevada to curb a downward trend of film production revenue in the Silver State.

Democratic Sen. Aaron Ford of Las Vegas presented SB165 with a team of supporters to the Senate Committee on Revenue and Economic Development Thursday.

Ford says substantial tax incentives to the film industry would create thousands of jobs per year and bring at least $30 million in tourism tax revenue to the state. He adds that other states experienced massive revenue growth from the film industry shortly after implementing large tax credits.

A film shown to committee members during the presentation includes Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman endorsing the effort to bring more films to Nevada. (AP)
