Senate Bills Allows Employee Firing for Smoking, Drinking

Nevada lawmakers are considering a bill that would make it legal for employers to fire or refuse to hire employees who use certain products outside of work.

For example, under Senate bill 87, it would be legal for hospitals to fire employees who smoke - even if they don't smoke on the job.

Furthermore, employees could also be let go for drinking which right now is prohibited as an unlawful employment practice.

Senator Warren Hardy of Clark County sponsored this bill.
