Police: Man in Critical Condition After Hit in Reno Crosswalk

Posted: Updated:

Reno Police are investigating a morning vehicle accident that sent a 59-year-old pedestrian to the hospital.

Police say a 24-year-old Jeep driver was heading south on Wells Avenue when he turned east onto the I-80 on-ramp and hit a man in a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center.

During the turn, police say the driver told them the sun blocked his view, which may have contributed to the accident.

They say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

If you have any information about this accident, call the Reno Police Department Traffic Division at 334-2141 or Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411. Your call will remain anonymous.
