RTC Hosts Open House on Service Change, Fare Proposals

Posted: Updated:

The Regional Transportation Commission wants your thoughts on proposed service changes for RTC RIDE routes and proposed fare concepts.

RTC is holding an open house Thursday from 7am-10am and 3pm-5:30pm at its 4th Street station in downtown Reno inside the north building.

Given the financial constraints to operate the community's transit program, the RTC will present proposed service change concepts to RTC RIDE service in an on-going review of performance to provide more efficient service and meet the needs of transit riders. Proposed changes could affect and improve routes throughout the transit network. Other concepts being considered include new Pyramid service, modification to the North Valleys serve, and a Lake Tahoe (Sand Harbor) weekend summer service. Additionally, information about overall fare pricing for RTC transit services will also be presented for community input.

Information will be available on rtcwashoe.com for people who cannot attend the open house. Comments may be submitted electronically through the website.

After reviewing public input, a recommendation will be developed and presented to the RTC Board during a public hearing at their monthly board meeting on March 15th. If adopted at that time, changes would be implemented on July 1, 2013.
