A non-profit that helps food pantries in northern Nevada held a fundraiser on Wednesday to help the hungry.
Lunch Aid says food pantries give away food for free but need help paying for expenses like transportation, storage and staff.
So today they're asking the community to give the price of a day's lunch -- or $10 -- to help feed a family for a week.
"If one percent of the local population gave $10, we could raise $40,000 in a day to help feed hungry people in this area," says Kate High.
High says pantries see hundreds of people line up for food everyday, so any help they can get is appreciated.
