D'Andrea Golf Course Up For Public Auction In Late February

Posted: Updated:

According to documents from the Washoe County Recorder's Office, the D'Andrea Golf Course in Sparks is going up for public auction on February 26th.

It will be up for bid at 11 a.m. on the steps of the Washoe County Courthouse, at the corner of Court and Virginia streets in Reno.

The documents state:

The property address is purported to be D'Andrea Golf Course, Sparks, Nevada. The current outstanding principal balance is approximately $4,800,000.00, which is owed together with interest, late charges, advances, interest on advances, foreclosure fees and costs, and other expenses or costs not herein disclosed. The opening bid amount may be more or less than the outstanding principal balance as indicated.

The D'Andrea Golf Course originally shut down in March of 2012 after a majority of homeowners voted down a fee increase to help keep it open. The golf club lost money in seven of the last eight years, and needed an extra boost from residents just to stay afloat.

"I just hope something happens," said the Captain of the Ladies Golf Club at D'Andrea Pam Ginsburg. "We are keeping our fingers crossed that somebody viable will be there on the courthouse steps and pick up the course, invest money in it and bring it back."
