Driver Smashes Into Nevada Highway Patrol Vehicle Near Minden

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a teenage driver slammed into a trooper's patrol car Friday afternoon.

Troopers say the 16-year old was a driving a Honda south on U.S. 395 toward Minden around 3 p.m. The Nevada Highway Patrol car was parked about five feet from the road. For unknown reasons, the Honda drifted off the pavement and hit the back of the patrol car.

Both the trooper inside the patrol car and the teen were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
